The level of Mtkvari River in Tbilisi and Mtskheta will return to its natural level for 3 days

From May 28 to May 30, JSC “EP Georgia Generation” will carry out scheduled works on Zahesi and Ortachala HPPs water reservoirs. It is planned to carry out washing of reservoirs of both hydropower plants, aiming to maintain their useful volume and clean and remove the accumulated garbage. The works will be carried out in accordance with the environmental norms and safety measures established by the legislation. The works have been agreed with the State Electricity System of Georgia and the National Environment Agency.

The washing works of reservoirs will continue for three days, which will lead to a 3-day shutdown of Zahesi and 2-day shutdown of Ortachala HPPs and, accordingly, the water level in the Mtkvari river bed will drop and return to its natural level in Tbilisi and Mtskheta.

JSC “EP Georgia Generation” carries out cleaning of reservoirs of HPPs owned by the company every year, which contributes to the efficient operation of hydropower plants.
