Iori Cascade

The Iori cascade combines Sioni HPP, Satskhenisi HPP and Martkopi HPP. The water supply of the mentioned HPPs is ensured by the Melioration of Georgia.

Sioni HPP

            Sioni HPP is a small HPP with earth dam. . It presents a medium-head power plant. The Sioni reservoir and the HPP located next to it, are the initial structures of the upper Samgori irrigation system.

            Sioni HPP is located in Tianeti district, Sioni township. The water reservoir is located between the town of Sioni and the village of Lelovani.

            Sioni HPP was put into operation in 1964. The design installed capacity of the HPP is 9.0 MW, the design generation of electricity is 33.0 million kWh.

Martkhopi HPP

            Martkhopi HPP is a small HPP with medium head. It is located in the village of Martkhopi, Gardabani district. . It operates on the main channel of upper Samgori irrigation system.

            Martkhopi HPP was put into operation in 1952. The design installed capacity of the HPP is 3.875 MW, the design generation of electricity is 14.0 million kWh.

Satskhenisi HPP

            Satskhenisi HPP is a high-head small HPP. It is located in the village of Saakadze, Gardabani district. It operates on the main channel of upper Samgori irrigation system.

            Satskhenisi HPP was put into operation in 1952. The design installed capacity of the HPP is 14.0 MW, the design generation of electricity is 86.0 million kWh.
